Retention

How long Open MCP Portal keeps call records, recorded call contents, the audit log and usage rollups, with team overrides and the retention job.

Admin › Retention sets how long records are kept before the retention job deletes them.

KindDefaultAllowed (days)Team override
Call records90 days1 to 3,650Yes
Recorded call contents14 days1 to 90Yes
Audit log400 days30 to 3,650No
Usage rollups400 days90 to 3,650No
  • A call involving two teams (a gateway of one team, a server of another) is kept for the shorter of the two teams' periods; with neither, the platform's.
  • Recorded contents go when their own period passes or with their call record, whichever is first.
  • Team overrides are set on the team's admin page (Limits & retention); teams see what applies under Team settings › Limits & retention.
  • Shortening a period asks for confirmation: the next run permanently deletes what's older.

The retention job

One replica at a time runs the job every RETENTION_INTERVAL (15 minutes by default). It deletes each kind in batches of RETENTION_BATCH_SIZE rows (1,000 by default), at most 100 batches per kind per run: recorded contents, then call records, then audit entries, then usage rollups. Call records are never deleted before the usage rollup has counted them. It also clears expired consent links and old rate-limit windows. It's idempotent, and a kind that fails doesn't stop the others.

Last run shows when the job last ran, what it deleted per kind ("Nothing deleted" when nothing was due) and any kind that failed. Each run that deleted something writes a retention.purge audit entry with counts only.

There are no legal holds or dry runs. Changes are audited as settings.retention_update and team.retention_update.
